Parents
are part of a multidisciplinary team that uses a strength-based approach
to assess the child and the family when there is concern about emerging
emotional, behavioral or developmental challenges. Other team members
may include:
- Education Specialist
- Nurse
- Psychiatrist
- Psychologist
- Social worker
- Families are followed for up to one year after the assessment to assist
with accessing needed services.
The assessment takes into account many aspects of the child’s development
and the family’s life including: behavior, emotions, relationships,
health, intelligence, daily family life, learning style, family values,
beliefs and traditions. After the assessment is complete the team meets
to develop a plan that maximizes the family’s strengths and addresses
identified needs.
